The Needles
These rocks, and the lighthouse, are very familiar to all who sail through the English Channel
The Needles are now three distinctive chalk cliffs that rise out of the sea at
the western end of the Isle of Wight
The lighthouse was designed by the Scottish civil engineer James Walker, and built in 1859
Boat trips around the Needles are available from Alum Bay, and Yarmouth
