Isle of Wight Yarmouth Castle. A very short history
Built in 1547, at a cost of £1000, (about US $1600) as a defence against the French
It's armament was of 3 cannon, 3 culverins, and 12 smaller guns
The castle is of square construction with sides of 100ft long
The north, and west walls are in the sea
The south, and east walls were at one time flanked by a 30ft wide moat
