Translation
The same William (William Fitzazor**) holds BRADING, and his nephew holds of him
Alnoth held it as a manor of King Edward# in alod
It then, as now, paid geld for 3 parts of virgate
There is land for half a plough
In demesne is 1 plough, with 4 bordars, and 1 acre of meadow
There is woodland for 2 pigs
It was worth 10s; now 20s
demesne (pronounced demêne) was the home farm of the manor
In modern money 10s equals about £9.80, and 20s equals about £19.60
**Fitz in front of a name was Norman for Bastard
#Edward the Confessor who died on January 4th 1066, and was succeeded by
King Harold who died on October 14th 1066 at the Battle of Hastings
by receiving an arrow in his eye, but there is a train of thought that he survived and spent the rest of his life as a farmer
The red line through the name was not a mistake, but rather to show it's importance
